Soccer City Stadium

Soccer City Stadium was previously known as the FNB stadium.

It was upgraded in the lead up to the FIFA World Cup held in South Africa in 2010 and it is the largest football stadium in South Africa.

Notable Events:

1996 African Cup of Nations Final.

2010 FIFA World Cup Matches including the opening match and the final.

2013 African Cup of Nations Final.

2010 Rugby Union Match: The FNB stadium hosted its first rugby union match on August 21, 2010.

The stadium has also hosted various local and international artists including Chris Brown, U2, Coldplay, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Jay Z and Beyonce. ​

In 1990, Nelson Mandela delivered his first speech since his release from prison at the FNB stadium. Nelson Mandela’s memorial service was also held at the Soccer City Stadium in 2013.

Current Use

The Soccer City stadium has been used by other football and rugby clubs but it is mostly the home ground of Kaizer Chiefs FC.
